The Book
by Donald Mackay
by night while nobody is reading
words and phrases
and even full paragraphs
migrate
slipping from page to page
crossing the borders
of chapters
under the radar
of you dear reader
who wonder sometimes
haven't I read these words before
somewhere?
never dipping into the same book twice
the strangest thing
it always makes as much sense
as it ever did
